About the Seminar
What does it mean to be a leader who truly serves others? And what can we learn from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose leadership has been tested under extraordinary circumstances? Shortly after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Rochelle presented an analysis of Zelensky's leadership to a study group of Japanese business leaders. More than four years later, she has updated that presentation to examine how his leadership has evolved throughout the war. The seminar explores: • What servant leadership is, and why it matters. • How Zelensky demonstrates servant leadership through courage, humility, empathy, communication, and commitment to a shared purpose. • How his leadership has evolved over more than four years of war. • What lessons we can apply to our own leadership roles. The presentation draws on actual examples of Zelensky's actions and his own words, including speeches and interviews. No prior knowledge of servant leadership is required. Rochelle Kopp is the founder and Managing Principal of Japan Intercultural Consulting, an international consulting and training firm specializing in leadership, management, and cross-cultural communication. She is the author of numerous business and management books, including a recent Japanese-language book on servant leadership, and serves as an outside director of two Japanese listed companies.
